Electrician Lower Blue Mountains: Glenbrook to Faulconbridge

From Lapstone and Glenbrook up to Springwood and Faulconbridge, the lower Blue Mountains means bushland, steep blocks and a real bushfire risk. Electrical work here has to account for all three. Tully Electrical handles everything from switchboard upgrades in older cottages to moving private power lines underground, away from the trees.

Living With the Bush

Most lower mountains homes back onto or sit among bushland, and much of the area is mapped as bush fire prone land. That changes how you should think about your power supply, especially any private lines running through the trees to your house.

Local Considerations

Bushfire risk and private power lines

If your property has private overhead lines or poles, keeping trees and vegetation clear of them is the owner’s responsibility, not the network’s. Endeavour Energy inspects private lines, and if trees are too close it will write to you explaining what needs to be done. If the work is not done, the power can be disconnected for safety. Their advice is to keep a three-metre clearance from power lines. On a bush block, that can mean ongoing tree work every year.

Moving power underground

Putting a private overhead line underground takes it out of the trees for good. It removes the clearance problem and lowers the risk of a line coming down in a storm or a fire. This is Level 2 work, and because we own our excavator, one team handles the trenching, conduit, cable and connection. Level 2 and excavation services.

Steep and rocky blocks

Sandstone, slopes and tight driveways make trenching harder than on flat land. Our 1.7 tonne excavator is compact enough for most access, and we assess the route on site before quoting so there are no surprises when we hit rock.

Older cottages and new builds

Many older weatherboard and fibro cottages still have their original switchboards, sometimes on old backing boards that need careful handling. A switchboard upgrade with modern safety switches is one of the best safety improvements you can make. For new homes on bush fire prone land, we work with your builder early to plan the supply route and the electrical work around the house.

Lower Blue Mountains FAQs

Who is responsible for trees near the power lines on my property?

For private lines and poles on your property, you are. Endeavour Energy manages vegetation near its own network, but inspects private lines and will notify you in writing if trees are too close. Not acting on a notice can lead to disconnection.

Can my overhead power line be put underground?

In most cases, yes. We assess the route, trench it with our own excavator, lay conduit and cable, and handle the Level 2 connection work. Rock and slope affect the cost, so we quote after seeing the site.

Do you work on steep or hard-to-reach blocks?

Yes. Our compact excavator suits tighter access, and we plan the route around rock and slope before quoting.
